Are You Concerned About Hoodia Side Effects?

by Caitlin Ryan

Have you been looking into weight loss diet pills? I'm sure youre concerned about potential side effects. Nobody wants to take hoodia or any other weight loss supplement without examining the ingredients and figuring out whether or not there could be side effects that may jeopardize their health or make them feel ill.

Hoodia gordonii is an appetite suppressant. If you want to understand hoodia side effects, you need to know how we become hungry in the first place. Our brain is notified when blood glucose (blood sugar) levels drop indicating that we need nourishment. The brain sends a message to the hypothalamus which then creates the feeling of hunger.

The active ingredient in this South African cactus is p57. P57 tricks the brain into thinking that you have plenty of blood sugar. This controls the appetite because the brain isn't triggered by dropped glucose levels. The result is that our appetites are suppressed. Even if our glucose levels are low, we won't feel the urge to eat.

This is fantastic for those of us who have been overeating for so long that our response system towards glucose is out of whack. Our bodies have become used to excess, so we feel hungry even though we don't really need glucose. Diabetics on the other hand, rely on glucose control to manage their disease, so it isn't advisable for diabetics to use hoodia gordonii as an appetite suppressant.

The other side effect of hoodia has to do with hydration. Hoodia may also suppress our sense of thirst. The problem with thirst is that when sense thirst, we are already a bit dehydrated because our brains send out signals of thirst when fluid levels drop below normal. It's important for us to drink water throughout the day regardless of thirst. If you are using hoodia gordonii as an appetite suppressant, this is even more important. Besides, drinking water is important for weight loss as well!

In reality, unless you are diabetic or opposed to drinking water, those side effects of hoodia gordonii aren't all that serious.

There are diet pills for weight loss and other types of appetite suppressants that pose a greater risk than hoodia gordonii. A lot of diet pills can make you feel quite ill or worse!

One of those is ephedra which is an appetite suppressant that was once very popular. It has been banned by the FDA due to its role in the deaths of people who suffered severe heart-related side effects. It is still used by rogue weight loss companies that illegally sell it on the internet.

Another type of weight loss diet pill is known as a fat blocker. Alli is a very popular fat blocker that is now available over-the-counter. The weight loss mechanism in Alli is that it blocks the absorption of fat and eliminates it from the body. The problem is that many people taking Alli continue to eat high fat diets and often have uncontrollable bowel movements and ill feeling cramps, bloating and gas.

Stimulants such as caffeine are known to cause a sort of nervous, jittery feeling. This can increase anxiety and keep you awake at night causing sleep deprivation side effects.

HoodiThin (the one I use) is 100% pure; however some hoodia gordonii supplements contain other ingredients that may cause side effects. Make sure you investigate all of the ingredients before buying a diet pill or weight loss supplement. It was extremely important to me that I chose a hoodia product that didn't contain excessive ingredients.

Do not take hoodia if you are pregnant or nursing. Children should not take hoodia. If you have major health concerns or you are diabetic, check with your physician before taking any weight loss diet pills or supplements including hoodia.

However, if you are healthy and simply want to lose weight, hoodia is one of the safest appetite supplements on the market. It can boost your willpower and help you avoid foods that may cause weight gain when eaten in excess.
